South Carolina gives you three ways to vote in November: in person on Election Day, early in person, or absentee by mail.

Register to vote

Sunday, October 4, 2026

You must be registered at least 30 days before Election Day. Because that date lands on a Sunday, mailed applications postmarked Monday, October 5 are still accepted. Register or check your status at scvotes.gov.

Absentee ballot request

Friday, October 23, 2026 · 5:00 p.m.

Last day to return your absentee ballot application to the Berkeley County Voter Registration & Elections office. Completed ballots must be back in the office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Early voting

Oct. 19 – Oct. 31, 2026

Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Early voting centers are closed Sunday, October 25. No excuse needed — bring your photo ID and vote at any early voting center in Berkeley County.

Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Election Day you must vote at your assigned precinct — find yours in the list below. If you are in line at 7:00 p.m., stay in line: you can still vote.

Bring a photo ID. South Carolina accepts an SC driver’s license, SC DMV ID card, SC voter registration card with photo, federal military ID, or U.S. passport. Confirm your registration, precinct, and sample ballot any time at scvotes.gov.

Early Voting in Berkeley County

October 19–31, 2026 · Monday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. · Closed Sunday, October 25. Any registered Berkeley County voter may use any early voting center in the county — you are not limited to your own precinct.

Berkeley County opens additional early voting centers for a general election beyond the elections office, and usually places one in the Goose Creek and Cane Bay areas. These are the 14 precincts that vote in the Berkeley County Council District 5 race, running from Cane Bay and Nexton in the northwest down through Carnes Crossroads to Crowfield, Stratford and Devon Forest in Goose Creek. On Election Day you must vote at your own assigned precinct, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
